Off Campus Work-Study Position Description
Position Title: Affordable Housing Assistant
Organization: Project for Pride in Living (PPL)
Program Site: Offices are located in Minneapolis and St. Paul neighborhoods. Description: PPL is a 35-year-old private, non-profit community organization dedicated "To work with lower-income individuals and families to achieve greater self-sufficiency through housing, employment training, and support services." PPLs Property Management Division is a fast-paced non-profit division of PPL that manages over 600 affordable rental apartments in Minneapolis and St. Paul neighborhoods.
This volunteer position serves people looking for affordable apartments and current PPL residents. Learn the basics of Property Management, including different housing programs and subsidies and exposure to partnerships with other non-profit organizations.
Responsibilities & Duties: Assist people searching for an affordable apartment. Provide housing information to people who stop or call in. Set up appointments for people to see apartments, process housing applications. Help residents to secure needed repairs. Assist with office and clerical tasks. Other projects as assigned
Qualifications: Self-starter and self-directed, ability to work independently on assigned projects Good communication, organizational, time management, and problem solving skills Outgoing, dependable, responsible, flexible, patient Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds Experience with Word, Excel, Internet.
Hours & Days: Flexible, negotiated weekday hours between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
